National Institutes Of Health (NIH) team visits KHRCPosted: 20/11/2008 A team from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) on Thursday November 13, 2008 visited the Kintampo Health Research Centre(KHRC).The purpose of the visit was to discuss topics around the current NIH studies and any other projects of interest being conducted by the centre. The NIH studies include:
The team which consisted of Dr.Steve Rosenthal, Program officer of NIH; Mansour Bijan, Contract Specialist ; Walter Jones, Clinical Manager of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the NIH local sites; Prof.Kwadwo Koram, Principal Investigator of the NIH studies from the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) and Johnson Avorkpoh, Project Manager of the NIH studies was conducted round the centre by the Director, Dr.Seth Owusu-Agyei.The tour took them to all the departments of the centre and the vaccination area of the Municipal Hospital. Later in the day at about 2.30pm, all staff as well as the visitors convened at the conference room of the centre for a presentation. The first presentation was given by the Director of KHRC who gave an overview of the malaria studies carried out so far by the centre in the Kintampo North and South districts.
