TWO MORE SEMI-DETACHED BUILDINGS: To mitigate accommodation problems of KHRC staff

new building for staff

The Kintampo Health Research Centre (KHRC) on Thursday April 3, 2008 held a very brief ceremony to mark the handing over ceremony of two newly constructed semi-detached buildings at a site close to the Director’s residence.

As a measure to ease the accommodation problems of staff, the centre found it fitting to have these buildings constructed to ensure that staff have a comfortable place to lay their heads after a tiring day.

The contract was awarded to FREDEEL Construction Works, and the sod was cut for the commencement of the project on 15th October, 2007.This project was expected to be completed by the 15th of April, 2008.However, the contractor was able to complete the project ahead of schedule. This according to the administrator was an improvement over previous projects.

The ceremony started at about 4.30pm with an inspection tour of the two buildings led by the administrator of the centre, Mr. Jacob Saah and the contractor, Fredeel.KHRC’s team comprising the Director, Dr. Seth Owusu-Agyei together with other senior members was conducted round the buildings. Each building consists of two apartments with each having two bedrooms, a hall, a porch, kitchen, toilet and bath room.

During the inspection tour of the two buildings which took the team to all the rooms, some minor problems which had to do with plumbering, sinks, pipes and some openings under doors were pointed out.

At a standing ceremony after the inspection tour, the overall impression of the work done by the contractor was splendid, and the administrator congratulated the contractor on the good job done. He however urged the contractor to attend to the other problems which were pointed out by staff during the inspection.

To crown the whole short ceremony and to register the acceptability of the building, some good wine was provided for staff to drink to their heart’s content and to say congratulations to the contractor and his outfit.      Thursday April 3, 2008
